When a lollipop brand offers creamy flavours, it makes sense to have a blueberry yogourt version. I’ll be honest, I didn’t read the flavour on the package (it’s in small letters on the back) and while I was eating it I just assumed it was blueberry and cream. The difference between blueberries and cream and blueberries and yogourt is actually pretty significant. The cream would be richer and probably sweet. The yogourt would be rich, but with a tartness to it.

This lollipop was most certainly more on the sweet side than tart. Again, I ate the entire lollipop assuming that it was going for a cream flavour and didn’t even realize they were going for yogourt. It’s just not easy to make a tart flavoured hard candy without making it sour. You could make it sour and sweet, but that feels different than tart.

The other problem with this treat is how the blueberry and cream mixed together. I’ve had a few other Alpenliebe lollipops before and the flavours while kind of fake still tasted pretty good. This one on the other hand just tasted like medicine. I’m not sure if it was the blueberry flavour they used or how the blueberry flavour they used interacted with the “yogourt” flavour. Either way something was kind of off about the flavour of this lollipop. It wasn’t enough to make me stop eating it, but it did turn me off a bit.

This isn’t an amazing lollipop, it didn’t taste like yogourt and the blueberry flavour was weird. I think the idea of a blueberry yogourt lollipop is fun, I just don’t think the folks who made this lollipop succeeded in making one.
